  1. Hi Samuel,

    I agree that the instructor must be able to modify the instruction as needed, especially assessments. In the distance education classroom, the student take-aways are going to be different based on their experiences, world-view and what is most relevant for them right now. Thus, having flexible assessments, or problem based learning, allows for the student to display their higher order thinking and relevance of the subject to meet their learning needs. This takes away the need to study for a test that only accesses surface level thinking and understanding.
